Interview

The process included several steps: phone interview, assessment, and onsite. The phone interview was just a behavioral sort of interview where you get to talk to a developer working at the company, and you just talk about what's on your resume. The assessment which I took online was a timed question test with several sections.

Interview Questions

  • What are your future goals?

Interview

Meh. The phone screening was very typical, he asked me to talk him through my resume and asked a few other basic questions. Then came the online test - took me a week to finally figure out how to log into the system/get in contact with someone who could help me. There were a few sections (4? 3?) but the only one of note was the coding section. 4 problems, 2 hours.

Interview Questions

  • Walk me through your resume; for another set of questions they make up their own coding language, teach it to you, then test you.

Interview

There were two stages in the process: a ~30 minute phone interview and a 3-4 hour session. The second session involved several presentations about the company and its software, and had two interviews at the end (a software "case study" and a non-technical interview with a recruiter). Overall, I thought the interviewers were welcoming and friendly, and did not feel intimidated throughout the process.

Application

I applied through college or university.   The process took 3 weeks.   I interviewed at Epic (Searcy, AR) in Feb 2020

Interview

The process is laid out in various phases. They line it out in the first email they send you once they consider you. I had a phone interview and a coding assessment. The phone interview is mainly to get to know you and what type of experience you have. The coding interview did take a lot of time, around two hours for me; it involved 3 different sections: One was a logical speed test where you have two minutes to answer, the second was a logical fake programming section and the third was a couple programming challenges.

Interview Questions

  • What was a project you worked on recently that you are proud of?

Roughly 76% of cancer patients want to be involved in a clinical trial, but only 3% actually enroll. Our new Life Sciences program aims to help providers and industry sponsors solve problems like this. "The Life Sciences program will create a unified research infrastructure that connects these patients and providers with study sponsors, allowing all research sites to work together more effectively and to conduct more representative studies," said Seth Howard, vice president of research and development at Epic. "Ultimately, the goal is to democratize trials by creating new pathways for organizations and patients not previously involved in clinical research to participate." Read more from Becker's:

Culture

You never know what you might find when you visit campus. Tucked between our offices and courtyards, our hobbit hole and dragons lair, you can find the studio of Manabu Ikeda—our artist-in-residence since 2018. Manabu is currently at work on a six-panel, 10' x 19' project that he began in 2018. In Manabu's words: "…Although the theme of the work is about the sea, I depict an imaginary world, incorporating not only elements such as waves and the surface of the ocean, but also clouds and sky as well…The process is more about piling up details one step at a time than progressing as a whole. What could have been finished with a single brush stroke is instead worked with precise and extremely slow production speed, but this allows ideas to grow from the expression of just a small part and transforms into a larger form."
